団体概要

ジョイセフは、女性の健康と権利を守るために1968年に日本で設立された国際協力NGOです。

日本で培われた母子保健の経験を活かし、アジアやアフリカを中心に、安全な妊娠・出産の実現や、若者への包括的な性教育、セクシュアル・リプロダクティブ・ヘルス／ライツ（SRHR）の推進に取り組んでいます。

すべての人が、自分の性と人生を自分で選べる社会を目指し、日本と世界で活動しています。

取り組む社会課題

ジョイセフは、女性や若者が必要な知識や保健医療サービスにアクセスし、自分の性と人生を自分で選べる社会の実現を目指して、セクシュアル・リプロダクティブ・ヘルス／ライツ（SRHR）の推進に取り組んでいます。

大阪マラソン2027チャリティで寄せられたご寄付は、日本を含むアジア・アフリカで、10代の望まない妊娠を防ぐため、若者を取り巻くジェンダー不平等の改善や、包括的な性教育、正しい情報や相談・支援を届ける活動に活用します。

寄付金の使途

2分に1人、失われる命の現状

世界では今、この瞬間も2分に1人の女性が妊娠・出産に関連する原因で命を落としています（WHO・UNICEF・UNFPA・世界銀行）。特に10代（15〜19歳）の女の子の死因のトップは妊娠・出産の合併症であり（WHO）、意図しない妊娠の約6割が中絶に至っています。その約45%は「安全でない中絶」で、その97%が低・中所得国で起きています（WHO・Guttmacher Institute）。

これは、遠い国の話ではありません。日本でも人工妊娠中絶件数は年間約12万8,000件にのぼり、20歳未満を中心に増加傾向にあります（厚生労働省 2024年度）。

多くのケースは、「知っていれば防げた」可能性があります。

ジョイセフが目指していること

ジョイセフが目指しているのは、「妊娠しないこと」そのものではありません。 「一人ひとりが正しい知識を持ち、自分の性と人生について自分で選択できる社会をつくること」です。 その結果として、10代の望まない妊娠や性感染症を防ぎ、性暴力のない社会を目指します。

支援でできること

いただいたご寄付は、活動資金のニーズが特に高い国や地域に優先的に届け、若者や女性たちに必要な情報や支援を届ける活動に活用します。ご支援が大きくなればなるほど、対象人数や対象国を増やすことができます。

計画している活動の一例

■ 5万円で

例えば日本では、自分の性や妊娠の仕組みを、安心して学べる機会がまだ十分にないため、ジョイセフは、海外で培った活動ノウハウを生かし、紙芝居形式で学べる教材「ジョイセフエプロン」を用いて学生や教職員、保護者向けにの講座を開き、望まない妊娠を防ぐための知識を届けることができます。※1講座30名～40名規模を想定

■10万円で

例えば日本では、若者や若者に寄り添う大人（教員や保護者等）約300人に、避妊の手段や性的同意、妊娠の仕組みといった情報を盛り込んだジョイセフのオリジナル啓発教材冊子「SRHR NOTE」を届けることができます。※送料別

■25万円で

例えば10代の女の子のおよそ10人に1人が妊娠をしていると推定されるアフリカ・ガーナの貧困地域で、若年妊娠を防ぐ知識を届ける予防啓発アンバサダー1人を養成し、地域で週1-2回の頻度で啓発活動や地域の若者からの相談対応を行う担い手となることができるようになります。

事業内容と実績

ジョイセフは50年以上にわたり、「人づくり」を通じた問題の「予防」に重点を置き、40以上の国と地域で女性を取り巻く課題の根本解決に取り組んできました。

低・中所得国での支援活動

• 保健ボランティアの育成: 地域住民と保健サービスの橋渡し役となり、女性の健康に関する情報普及とサービス利用促進を支援。
• 男性の参加促進: 地域全体で女性の命と健康を支える環境づくりを推進。
• 保健医療の質向上: 保健施設の整備や医療従事者の研修を実施。

日本国内での活動と政策提言

• SRHRの政策提言: 日本政府への働きかけや国連会議等を通じた国際的な情報発信・ネットワーク構築。
• SRHR・ジェンダー啓発活動: 若者、保護者、教職員を対象に、自己肯定感やライフスキル向上、意図しない妊娠・子宮頸がん予防のための啓発活動を展開。
• 包括的性教育の推進: 学校現場での包括的性教育の推進に注力。
• 市民参加型の国際協力: アフガニスタンへのランドセル支援、チャリティイベント「ホワイトリボンラン」開催、災害時の女性・母子への緊急支援などを実施。

これからやりたい活動

正しい知識があれば、防げる問題があります。

最近、性被害や赤ちゃんが置き去りにされる痛ましい事件が報じられています。ジョイセフは、これらの問題の根源には、「体と心の成長、命の大切さ、そして自分らしい生き方について、学校や社会で学ぶ機会が不足している」ことがあると考えています。もし、相手を尊重する気持ちや、正しい避妊方法の知識があれば、多くの問題は未然に防げたかもしれません。

ジョイセフは、日本国内だけでなく、活動している低・中所得国においても、性と生殖に関する包括的な教育の機会を広げることに注力していきます。一人ひとりが正しい知識を「知り」、深く「学ぶ」ことで、行動が変わり、より良い社会が築かれることを目指します。

About JOICFP

Founded in Japan in 1968, JOICFP is an NGO working to protect and promote the health and rights of women and girls.

Building on Japan's experience in maternal and child health, we work primarily across Asia and Africa to improve maternal health, advance comprehensive sexuality education for young people, and promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

The Challenge We Address

JOICFP promotes sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) so that women and young people can access the knowledge, healthcare, and support they need to make informed choices about their own bodies and lives.

Donations raised through the Osaka Marathon 2027 Charity will fund initiatives in Japan, Asia, and Africa that prevent unintended teenage pregnancies by tackling gender inequality, expanding access to comprehensive sexuality education, accurate information, counseling, and support for young people.

How Donations Will Be Used

Every two minutes, a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. Many of these deaths—along with countless unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and cases of sexual violence—are preventable when people have access to accurate information and quality sexual and reproductive health services.

JOICFP believes that everyone has the right to make informed decisions about their own body and future. Our goal is not simply to prevent pregnancy — It is to empower women and young people with the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to make their own choices.

How Your Donation Helps

Your donation goes directly to the countries and communities where the need is greatest, providing young people and women with education, information, and sexual and reproductive health services they need. The more support we receive, the more people we can reach.

Examples of Your Impact

• JPY 50,000 – Delivers an educational workshop in Japan using JOICFP's interactive learning materials, helping 30–40 students, teachers, or parents gain accurate knowledge about pregnancy and reproductive health.
• JPY 100,000 – Provides approximately 300 young people, teachers, and parents in Japan with SRHR NOTE, JOICFP's educational booklet covering the body, relationships, sex, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HPV and cervical cancer, contraception, consent, pregnancy, gender and sexuality.
• JPY 250,000 – Trains one community youth ambassador in Ghana to lead ongoing education sessions and support young people, helping prevent teenage pregnancy in a community where it remains common.

For over 50 years, JOICFP has focused on prevention through capacity building, working in over 40 countries and regions to address the root causes of the issues affecting women’s lives and health.

Training Community Health Volunteers

Volunteers serve as a bridge between local residents and health services, spreading vital health information and improving access to care.

Engaging Men and Boys

We promote community-wide involvement in supporting women's health and wellbeing.

Improving the Quality of Healthcare

We help upgrade health facilities and train for healthcare professionals.

Activities in Japan and Policy Advocacy

SRHR Policy Advocacy

We advocate for SRHR policy reform to the Japanese government and share knowledge globally through UN forums and international networks.

SRHR and Gender Awareness Campaigns

We run programs for young people, parents, and educators that build self-esteem and life skills, and help prevent unintended pregnancy and cervical cancer.

Promoting Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)

We actively advocate for CSE in schools across Japan.

Citizen-Driven International Cooperation

From donating school bags to children in Afghanistan to organizing charity events like the White Ribbon Run, to providing emergency support for women and children in disasters, we engage citizens in meaningful action.

Our Vision for the Future

Many problems can be prevented—if we have the right knowledge.

Japan has recently seen heartbreaking reports of sexual violence and abandoned newborns. JOICFP believes that these tragedies often stem from a lack of opportunity—in schools and in society—to learn about bodily and emotional development, the value of life, and how to live authentically.

If more people had been taught to respect others paired with accurate information about contraception, many of these outcomes could have been prevented.

That is why JOICFP is committed to expanding access to human rights and evidence-based comprehensive sexuality education both in Japan and in the low- and middle-income countries where we work.

We believe that when individuals are empowered with real knowledge, they change their behavior—and from there, we can build a better society together.
