A Proven Track Record You Can Trust

- A certified NPO in the sports field, active in Osaka since 1999. Founded in Tenmabashi, Osaka, we have continued to build our work in the same local community ever since.

- In 2021, we had the honor of reporting on our work to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress at the Imperial Palace, and in 2025 we received the Iwasa Prize.

- A small, dedicated staff backed by about 200 experienced volunteers. With the energy we have built through swim meets and day-to-day activities, our whole team will be there to cheer on your challenge.

- We value personal, attentive support. We know every runner by face and name. We won't leave you to shoulder the 70,000-yen goal alone—from writing your profile to making flyers, business cards, and donation boxes, we'll work with you to find the right fundraising approach.

"I want to swim." "I want to get in the water." There are still too few places in our communities where these wishes can come true. Through ordinary public pools in local communities, we are working to build a society where children with and without disabilities can enjoy the water together.

We will make the Osaka Marathon 2027 a gateway for sharing this vision with society. The 42.195 km you run can become someone's smile as they say, "I got to swim in the pool today!"

障がい児が水泳をしようとすると、「専用の施設へ」「付き添いは家族で」「安全の責任は自分たちで」と、見えない壁がいくつも立ちはだかります。プール・ボランティアは、その壁を一つずつ外してきました。

What We Want to Change — Making the World of Water Barrier-Free!

When a child with a disability tries to swim, invisible walls rise up one after another: "Go to a specialized facility," "Have your family accompany you," "Take responsibility for safety yourselves." Pool Volunteer has been taking down these walls, one by one.

地域の市民プールで、安心して水に入れる仕組み

・地域の一般市民プールを使う

・保護者はプールに入らず、観覧席で見守るだけでいい

A Way to Enter the Water Safely at Local Community Pools

We use ordinary local public pools

Guardians don't enter the pool—they can simply watch from the spectator seats

Volunteers accompany each swimmer safely, one-on-one or with even more hands when needed

We welcome all types of disabilities, including physical, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities

Participants and volunteers run the program together as peers

Our "volunteers in the water"—who teach swimming one-on-one to children with disabilities—are rare even nationwide.

数字が語る、活動の積み重ね

想いだけの団体ではありません。プール・ボランティアは、続けてきた実績で信頼をいただいています。1999年に設立され、2018年に認定NPO法人として認定を受けました。現在は約300名の会員、うち職員2名と、経験豊富なボランティア約200名が活動を支えています。年間のべ約3,000〜4,000名の障がい児を、マンツーマン以上の体制でサポート。大阪マラソンにも、2026年は給水ボランティア等として約130名が関わりました。

Our Work in Numbers

We are not driven by good intentions alone. Pool Volunteer has earned trust through a track record we have sustained over the years. Founded in 1999, we became a certified NPO in 2018. Today, our work is supported by about 300 members, including two staff members, and about 200 experienced volunteers. Each year, we support approximately 3,000–4,000 participant visits by children with disabilities, with one-on-one support or even more hands when needed. At the Osaka Marathon in 2026, about 130 people from our community were involved as water-station volunteers and in other roles.

What Your Donation Makes Possible

- Help Mark swim caps (2,300 yen each) — more than 4,000 distributed free of charge since 2018

- Pool wheelchairs (300,000–400,000 yen each) — Japan's first domestically made pool wheelchair, "Thunderbird." It can be used even when wet and allows people to move safely to the water's edge.

- "Ukiuki-kun" flotation aid for children with severe physical disabilities (19,000 yen each) — a support device that firmly supports the body

- Safety mats and other equipment — helping prevent accidents at the poolside

- Pool events — creating a day when everyone can enjoy the water without hesitation

As donations grow, more children can get into the water—and more smiles can follow.

「一人でも多くの障がい児に、『楽しく安全に水と親しむ』というプール・ボランティアの輪を広げていきたい」。私たちはずっとそう願って活動してきました。

水の中では、車いすも装具も要りません。浮いた瞬間の、あの解放された笑顔に出会うたび、この活動を続ける意味を確かめています。

知名度も、人脈も、企業の後ろ盾もない。だから私たちは、大阪城公園や中之島公園で、走る人ひとりひとりに声をかけて集めてきました。「誰かのために走りますねん。募金を集めるのも、おもろいもんでっせ」。今年も必死のパッチで、汗をかいて走ります。

大阪マラソンは、その笑顔を社会に広げる大きなチャンスです。走ることが、誰かの「プールで泳げた」につながる。ひと肌脱いでぇな！！ 走って、泳ぐ笑顔を増やそう。 あなたのエントリーを、心からお待ちしています。

A Message from Our President, Hiroshi Okazaki

In the water, no wheelchair or brace is needed.

The moment a child who struggles to move on land floats in the water, their expression softens and they break into a smile.

Every time I see that liberated smile, I am reminded that this work has been worth continuing.

We want to bring the joy of safely and happily enjoying the water to as many children with disabilities as we can.

That one wish has driven us all along.

We are not well known, and we do not have extensive networks or corporate backing.

So we have stood in Osaka Castle Park and Nakanoshima Park, calling out to every runner passing by and gathering donations.

"I'm running for someone else, you know. And raising donations can be pretty fun, too."

This year, once again, we will run our hearts out, drenched in sweat.

The 42.195 km you run does not end at the finish line.

Every step is surely connected to the smile of a child swimming at a community pool somewhere.
